CONVENED WEDNESDAY June 11, 9:00am - 11:00am | 207ABC

TOPIC AREA: NEW AND EMERGING TECHNOLOGIES

SESSION 20
SPECIAL SESSION: Wild and Crazy Ideas
Chair: Valeria Bertacco - Univ. of Michigan, Ann Arbor, MI

What is wackier than last year's WACI?  This year's WACI! The WACI session is full of Wild And Crazy Ideas, intended to stimulate discussion. The WACI session provides ideas that appear to be promising and thought-provoking, but are not fully developed to the point of full papers. This year, we start with the most physical aspects, with papers proposing the use of novel devices, analog parallelism, and single-photon, 3D optical communication.  We then progress to a WACIer design level - power saving software, chips that fail on purpose, collective computing, mental state monitoring.  We count on you, our WACI attendees, to ask the wild questions that make the WACI experience complete.  There will be a small award for the WACIest question!
