PANEL PROPOSAL GUIDELINES

Research Panels are organized as sessions within the technical conference program. Panels are intended to be of broad interest and attract a large audience. Panel topics should be interesting and timely, and the panels themselves should be engaging and informative. Each Research Panel is either 90 or 120 minutes long.

A good panel session explores a single high-level issue or question and includes representatives of differing viewpoints. Controversy is appropriate and encouraged. The topic should be relevant to multiple segments of DAC attendees. This year DAC has the following topic areas: Automotive, Design, EDA, ESS, IoT, IP, Machine Learning/AI, and Security/Privacy. See the Submission Categories tab below for more information.

We encourage the submission of ideas and suggestions for panel topics. The DAC Panels Chair will do his best to collaborate with the panel proposers to shape and refine the suggestions and to finalize the slate of panel speakers. Submitters of panel suggestions that are chosen for the conference will be recognized in the final conference program. All panels, panel speakers and moderators must receive final approval from the DAC Executive Committee, which takes into consideration the topics and the participants of all conference sessions to provide a diverse set of topics, participants and perspectives.

Note:  All panelist and moderators are required to register for the conference (a single day registration pass is acceptable). All registration waivers and exceptions will require the General Chair approval prior to the panel acceptance.

Submission Format

Please submit as much information as possible about your Panel suggestion in the web form:

  • The title of the Panel
  • Abstract, at most 500 words
  • Organizer(s) name(s), affiliation, city, state, country, and email address

  • Suggested panelists’ names, bios, viewpoints, affiliations, city, state, country and email addresses
  • Intended audience
  • Controversy: What are the differing points of views that will be represented? For a panel to be interesting, it must be controversial.
  • If a similar panel has been presented at DAC or a related conference in the recent past, please indicate why the topic is relevant for presentation in 2024.
