Marilyn Wolf Receives Marie R. Pistilli Women in Electronic Design Achievement Award

University of Nebraska–Lincoln Professor Recognized at DAC for Pioneering Contributions to Embedded Computing and Dedication to Education and Inclusion in the EDA Industry

SAN FRANCISCO, CA – May 29, 2025 –

DAC, The Chips and Systems Conference proudly announces Marilyn Wolf, Elmer E. Koch Professor of Engineering at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln, as the recipient of the 2025 Marie R. Pistilli Women in Electronic Design Award. This prestigious annual honor celebrates individuals who have significantly advanced the role of women in the field of electronic design automation (EDA). The award commemorates the late Marie R. Pistilli, co-founder of DAC, who was a tireless advocate for equality, diversity, and inclusion in engineering.

Marilyn Wolf is a luminary in embedded computing and VLSI systems. She currently serves at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln, where she was the founding Director of the School of Computing. Wolf earned her BS, MS, and PhD degrees in electrical engineering from Stanford University in 1980, 1981, and 1984, respectively. Her influential career has included tenures at AT&T Bell Laboratories (1984–1989), Princeton University (1989–2007), and Georgia Institute of Technology, where she held the Farmer Distinguished Chair from 2007 to 2019.

Wolf's research has spanned embedded computing, embedded video, computer vision, and VLSI design. She is widely recognized for her scholarly and technical leadership, as well as her commitment to advancing engineering education. She has received numerous accolades, including the IEEE Kirchmayer Graduate Teaching Award, IEEE Computer Society Goode Memorial Award, ASEE Terman Award, IEEE Circuits and Systems Society Education Award, and the ACM SIGDA Distinguished Service Award. She is a Fellow of both IEEE and ACM, and a member of the IEEE Computer Society Golden Core.

Beyond her technical accomplishments, Wolf has been a mentor and role model to generations of students and professionals. Her leadership and advocacy have helped create pathways for women in EDA and computing.

The Marie R. Pistilli Women in Electronic Design Award will be formally presented on Monday, June 23, at the 62nd Design Automation Conference, held June 22–25, 2025, at Moscone West Center in San Francisco, Calif.
